Is the work force still a man’s world? I know that we, as a society, have come a long way in opening up the work force to women, but I’ll admit that as a future lawyer, there have been moments in my career and education where I can’t help but feel that it is still a man’s world.
So what’s my point? My point is that this lingering feeling can affect women in the way they dress for work — skirts suits are traded for pant suits, dresses become boxy rather than fitted, and ballet flats are replaced by loafers.
But, by dressing less feminine, aren’t we, as women lawyers, women doctors, women accountants, women engineers, and so on just perpetuating this feeling that it is still a man’s world?
PS – This post is not meant to be a political or societal statement, just a fashion statement about the ability to dress both feminine and professional in the work place.
